A product that arises from the distillation process of lemongrass oil is the lemongrass hydrosol, which according to Healthnet, “is the condensate water produced through the distillation of lemongrass leaves. It is a clear, colorless liquid with a citrus taste and smell. It is known to thin blood and loosen blood vessels and for its highly diuretic properties. It can also be used as a topical antiseptic, without the sting of alcohol.”

Studies have shown that its main actions are anti-oxidant, anti-fungal, anti-microbial and anti-pyretic. Its more popular use though is in skin care, where it has been used as a main ingredient in products that fight bacterial and fungal skin infections.
